Info From “Adrenal Fatigue – The 21st. Centruy Stress Syndrome “ By James L. Wilson, ND, DC, Ph.D.

Signs & Symptoms of Adrenal Fatiuge - These are warnings that something needs to change if you want to feel well again.

  1. Difficulty getting up in the Morning . - Three alarms and you still don't feel awake enough to lift your head off the pillow

  2. Continuing fatigue not relieved by sleep - Despite getting a good night's sleep, you still feel tired when you wake up. Refreshed is a foreign word to people with adrenal fatigue

  3. Poor Sleep

  4. Craving for salt or salty food – You find yourself eating the whole bag of chips or adding salt to already salted food.

  5. Lethargy (lack of energy) – everything seems like a chore, even the things you used to enjoy. Frequently, just getting up out of the chair requires too much energy .

  6. Increased effort to do every day tasks – Everything seems to require ten times as much effort as it should

  7. Decreased sex drive – The hottest movie star could be waiting in your bedroom and you would ask for a rain check. Sex is the last thing on your mind when you hardly have the energy to keep your head up.

  8. Decreased ability to handle stress – Little things that never used to bother you get to you. Road rage, constant anxiety, yelling at your kids, and compulsive eating, smoking or drug use let you kow your adrenals are crying out for help.

  9. Increased time to recover from illness, injury or trauma – the cold you got in October is still hanging on in November. The cut on your finger takes weeks to heal. Two years after your father died you are still incapacitated by grief.

  10. Light-headed when standing up quickly. Sometimes you feel like you are going to pass out when you get up from the bed or a chair.

  11. Mild Depression - Why bother making an effort, it all seems so pointless

  12. Less enjoyment or happiness with life – Not much seems to interest you any more. Work and relationships feel empty and you almost never do something just for fun.

  13. Increased PMS – Bloated, tired, crabby, cramping and craving chocolate – Does it get any worse than this?

  14. Symptoms increase if meals are skipped or inadequate. - you have to drive yourself with snacks, colas and coffee just to keep from collapsing.

  15. Thoughts less focused, more fuzzy – You frequently lose track of your train of thought and it is harder and harder to make decisions, even about little things like what to wear.

  16. Memory less accurate – you are so absentminded, you should be a professor.

  17. Decreased Tolerance - People seem a lot more irritating than they used to.

  18. Don't really wake up until 10:00 AM

  19. Afternoon low between 3:00 and 4:00 PM – You feel like you have been drugged with sleeping pills during this time.

  20. Feels better after evening meal. - after 6 pm and supper, you start to feel alive again.

  21. Decreased productivity – It takes you longer to complete tasks and it is harder to stay on task.

  22. Low Blood Pressure

  23. Low Blood Sugar

  24. Dry Skin

  25. Cystic Breasts

  26. Lines of Dark Pigment in nails

  27. No Stamina for confrontation

  4. Eliminate the energy robbers (things in your life that drain your energy )

  5. Make your lifestyle a healing one

  6. Do something pleasurable every day

  7. Whenever you are not enjoying your life, go back to the “three things you Can Do” and take action 1. You can change the situation 2. You can change yourself to fit (adapt to) the situation 3. You can leave the situation.

  8. Notice at least one small, everyday thing that you are grateful for each day

  9. Take your Dietary Supplements Regularly – See list of my recommendations at end

  10. Move your body and breathe deeply

  11. Believe in your ability to recover – Know that God is your ultimate healer and wants you to get better.

  12. Use your mind as a powerful healing tool – Remember negative thoughts are destructive to your health.

  13. Keep a journal – jot down your experiences each day

  14. Eat the foods your body needs – Healthy Proteins, Carbohydrates, and Fats – Ask me more on this if you need help

  15. Learn which foods make you feel bad (keep a list of them) You may have developed an allergy to them – Over time of repairing your body, you will likely be able to reintroduce these foods

  16. Read the Adrenal Fatigue – The 21st. Centruy Stress Syndrome “ By James L. Wilson, ND, DC, Ph.D. And then Re-Read it for reminders.

  17. Try having a glass of water in the morning containing ½ to 1 teaspoon of Unrefined Sea Salt stirred in until dissolved

  28. Have regular meals with snacks between

  29. Remove toxins from your environment as best you can – use natural – home-made cleaners and check your toothpaste, and personal care products (shampoos, soaps, lotions, face products) for toxins.

  30. Exercise regularly (3 times a week ) for no more than 30 minutes each time . DO NOT Over-exercise.

  31. DO NOT Go on a “Diet” or a strenuous fat burning program. Your body needs to build first.

  32. Try “Belly Breathing” when doing your resting to help move your body into a more relaxed state. This involves breathing deeply into your abdomen and not just shallow breathing into the chest cavity. Breathe in through the nose and exhale slowly through the nose as well.

  33. Do NOT Drink Caffeine or other Caffeine containing drinks

  34. Enjoy your recovery

If you find that you have a number of these signs and symptoms, it would be wise to have a Saliva test to see what your Adrenal hormone levels are. A Saliva test is the best way to test for Adrenals.

BElean - Metabolism Booster

The Superstar of Life Force International’s BeNew Weight Loss System is the metabolism booster BElean. Unlike anything found in the market today, this convenient on-the-go stick-pack of powder is mixed in your choice of liquid twice each day. BElean uses the science of thermogenics, increasing metabolism and energy, turning up your body’s own weight loss furnace. Many of these ingredients have become well known through Dr. Oz’s weight loss features, but even more impressive are the double-blind clinical studies backing them. Unfortunately, as some of these ingredients have become popular many of them are becoming available in products of lower quality. It is important to note that Life Force International has used only the highest quality ingredients, made in the US, and all these amazing components are present in clinical levels, meaning that they are the same levels that these studies have shown to be the most effective. The key ingredients in BElean are: Green Coffee Bean Extract, Meratrim©, Raspberry Powder and Raspberry Ketones, African Mango Extract, Green Tea Leaves, White Kidney Bean Extract, Fucoxanthin and Cassis Berry. These remarkably potent ingredients could easily stand alone to deliver effective results, but BElean has taken it to a whole new level. Never before have they been brought together to synergistically deliver a powerful knockout blow to your body’s fat cells. BElean is a combination unlike anything found in the market today! The following examination of the key points to each of these ingredients will reveal why the results people are experiencing so quickly are so very impressive.

Green Coffee Bean Extract became popular for weight loss after it was mentioned on popular tv shows last year. It was  referred to it as “The green coffee bean that burns fat fast.” Green coffee beans are coffee beans that have not been roasted, which preserves the ingredient in the beans that is most responsible for the health benefits, chlorogenic acid. Chlorogenic acid in green coffee has been shown to have health benefits for heart disease, diabetes, weight loss, cholesterol reduction, high blood pressure and improved glucose tolerance.

For weight loss, chlorogenic acid affects how the body handles blood sugar and metabolism. Chlorogenic acid inhibits the release of glucose into the blood stream. The cycle is that when glucose enters the bloodstream after consuming food or beverage, the liver releases insulin. The insulin stores the excess glucose as fat. By slowing down the absorption of glucose in the bloodstream, the chlorogenic acid reduces the absorption of fat, and it is also shown to cause the liver to metabolize the fat faster. This has huge, positive implications for people with blood sugar issues and diabetes concerns, which has become epidemic in our society. The green coffee bean extract neutralizes an enzyme that facilitates post-meal glucose surges, which is essential to blood sugar control. Life Force uses the most potent Green Coffee Bean Extract, containing 50% chlorogenic acid, which is the amount used in the many studies showing these benefits.

Meratrim©, a propriety and patented formula, is a cutting edge plant extract blend for weight management and has fat burning qualities derived from two plants: Sphearanthus Indicus, a flower, and Garcinia Mangostana, a fruit rind. Both of these plants have been used medicinally by Asian cultures for many hundreds of years. Each of these plants contributes an essential part to Meratrim’s© ability to affect fat cell formation and breakdown. Together they have the ability to both halt fat storage and enhance fat breakdown and subsequent release of excess fat. Meratrim© is an all-natural, caffeine free, non-stimulant metabolism booster combo, backed by solid research.

What is most exciting is that these ingredient targets visceral fat. While visceral fat usually shows up as belly fat, it can also be found dangerously surrounding the organs in the body, in some cases, even making them smaller. Visceral fat is different from other fat cells in that it is chemically active, and releases inflammatory organisms, which can contribute to a host of degenerative disease and health challenges. This formula can help us get rid of not only the fat we can see, but the unhealthy fat we can’t see. And it works quickly, in double-blind studies Meratrim© showed a decrease in weight, BMI and hip and waist size in a two week period, showing that this ingredient delivers results quickly. This explains why so many users have had such quick and encouraging results, really important when sticking to a new program.

Raspberry Powder and Raspberry Ketones is another potent ingredient that also targets the visceral fat. Raspberry Ketones are a natural compound that grows mainly in the Amazon forests. These have also become popular since being featured on the popular tv show, where it was  stated “A revolutionary solution to boost metabolism and help you burn fat.” The Raspberry Ketone helps cut the fat in our cells so that it is expelled more quickly and burned more easily.” Raspberry Ketone can increase metabolism by increasing body heat and the body’s ability to burn fat. Like Meratrim©, this may be due to its clinically studied ability to significantly increase the expression and secretion of the fat burning hormone, Adiponectin. This is important because Adiponectin is a protein that modulates a number of metabolic processes, including glucose regulation and fatty acid breakdown. Research shows that its levels are less with a higher body fat percentage. Adiponectin influences the body’s response to insulin and also has anti-inflammatory effects on the cells lining the walls of blood vessels. In short, MORE Adiponectin = LESS fat in the body.

African Mango Extract comes from a tree native to West Africa. Having been used as a staple in that culture, it was originally studied for its benefit in reducing cholesterol. What they found it not only lowered cholesterol, but in every study the group given the supplement had significant weight loss results. So how does the African Mango Extract help you lose weight? Simply stated, it acts as a fat burner. Studies have shown that it targets the stubborn fat by accelerating the metabolism naturally and helping the body burn stored fat. This is the result of a protein that works directly on the fat deposits in the body, creating a speedy “flushing out” process. It also suppresses your appetite through regulating Leptin. Leptin has been identified as a major hormone contributing to obesity. It is the hormone that tells your body it has had enough to eat. Lower Leptin levels cause your body to get more cravings, which leads to overeating. This makes it very difficult to shed pounds. But when your leptin levels are raised and regulated, you do not feel the cravings to eat as much. African Mango acts as a Leptin regulator, helping your body to feel full. This is a major benefit because you feel full, so you eat less. It helps to delay the process of gastric emptying helping you to stay full for longer. When combined with the effects of leptin, this can aid weight loss significantly. African Mango Extract is also a very high source of soluble fiber which helps to suppress your appetite, and helps remove waste from the body.

Green Tea Extract brings to the formulation the potent polyphenols that increase our metabolic energy in a healthy way that make it more efficient. As we age, or go through menopause, our metabolism can slow down. Green Tea Extract also boosts resting metabolic rate, burning additional calories in the process. It is also full of powerful antioxidants, improving energy and mental focus. In traditional Chinese and Indian medicine, practitioners used green tea as a stimulant, a diuretic (to help rid the body of excess fluid), an astringent (to control bleeding and help heal wounds), and to improve heart health. Other traditional uses of green tea include treating gas, regulating body temperature and blood sugar, promoting digestion, and improving mental processes. More recent studies have found green tea to be helpful in certain cancers, rheumatoid arthritis, high cholesterol, cardiovascular disease, infection, and impaired immune function.

Fucoxanthin is an important carotenoid derived from Brown Sea Vegetables. It is also abundant in Body Balance! Research has found that Fucoxanthin prevents fat absorption and helps burn stored fat. It goes after the hardest fats to burn off, specifically belly fat. This ingredient raises your body’s metabolic rate—the speed at which you burn calories—through a thermogenic effect. Essentially, it is generating heat within the body, which causes the body to burn off fat already stored in various areas as a source of energy. Canadian scientists have reported that a decrease in energy expenditure with aging may cause 120–190 excess calories to be stored in the body every day, which translates to an extra 13–20 pounds of body fat a year! To achieve optimal results as we age, we must restore the ability of our cells to maintain a youthful metabolic rate. Unlike many "fat burners" that stimulate the central nervous system to promote weight loss, Fucoxanthin works directly in fat cells. By targeting energy distribution at the mitochondrial level, this non-stimulatory action provides aging humans with an important new mechanism of action to achieve successful long-term weight management. Fucoxanthin provides a unique solution for safely boosting cellular metabolism. It is also a multi-talented healer with the ability to promote lower blood pressure, reduce unhealthy cholesterol, balance metabolism, and even stabilize blood sugar levels.

White Kidney Bean Extract has been long known to be a highly nutritious source of fiber and minerals. It is now shown to interfere with the absorption of complex carbohydrates (pasta, breads, potatoes, etc.); and as a starch blocker, the white kidney bean is said to be very helpful in weight loss programs. White Kidney Bean is a wonderful source of water-soluble and insoluble fiber that is very helpful for many bowel complaints and helps to prevent constipation. Regarding weight loss, recent scientific studies have produced interesting results with respect to the use of White Kidney Bean acting as a starch blocker. Alpha-amylase is an enzyme that plays a key role in the digestion of foods and is essential for the metabolizing of starchy carbohydrates. Normally, when you eat carbs; your body digests it as sugar, which goes straight into your bloodstream and gets deposited as fat. However, White Kidney Bean Extract has been shown to prevent the stomach from breaking carbs down into simple sugars — so their calories aren't absorbed into your body. Dr. Oz called it one of his favorite fat busters. White Kidney Bean Extract is safe, effective and works to block carbs from being absorbed into your body.

Cassis Berries from New Zealand are a wonderful addition for health and flavor. They are a powerful super fruit, rich in needed nutrients. They have Vitamin C potency four times that of oranges. Rich in anthocyanins, they also have twice the antioxidant power of blueberries. The nutrient dense pulp is rich in nutrients ranging from B vitamins, vitamin C, and essential minerals like calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorous, potassium, and zinc. It also has substantial amounts of fiber, amino acids, and essential fatty acids called gamma-linoleic acid. Just 100 g of the cassis berry offers 300% of the recommended daily amount of vitamin C in our diets. Research is available as the berry is already consumed in Europe and Asia. Here are just a few examples of some of the health benefits the berry has shown:

  • bone health (calcium and magnesium ratio of 2:1)

  • positive influence on heart health and eye health

  • anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting properties

  • benefit to brain health

  • anthocyanin’s in the berry are believed to act as neuro-protective agents

  • acts as a detoxifier to cleanse tissues of oxidative stress and also stimulates liver functions

  • relieves menopausal symptoms and improve venous circulation

While we have focused on weight loss, the natural ingredients in BElean are proven health enhancers in many areas.

Tips for taking BElean:

The powder is to be taken twice a day, mixed in a liquid of your choice. Studies on the individual ingredients suggest 30 minutes before a meal are most effective. - Now available in Capsule form as well.

This product contains 65 mg of caffeine, about half of a cup of coffee. If sensitive, start with one a day, or half at a time. You may want to take earlier in the day, breakfast and lunch. It also may be helpful to dilute with more water. Can also be mixed with your BEfull smoothie, but again, most of ingredients are recommended to take 30 minutes before.

The ingredients are natural and come from food, so studies show no side effects, but if health challenged or concerned, take the Product Data Sheet PDF to your doctor.

BElean contains clinical levels of all ingredients.

Adding up the individual prices of a month supply of these various high quality ingredients would cost over $250:

Green Coffee $40, Meratrim© plant extracts $42, Raspberry Ketones $64, African Mango $37, Green Tea Extract $29, Fucoxanthin $35, White Kidney Bean Extract $20

Not only is BElean is an unmatched value, it is a product that can help us reach our goals and sustain healthy weight loss, energy, and metabolism.

Sea Vegetables Scientific studies

By Maine Coast Sea Vegetables

Minerals and Trace Elements

Sea vegetables provide all 56 minerals and trace elements required for your body’s physiological functions in quantities greatly exceeding those of land plants. Examples:

  • About 1/3 cup serving of Dulse or Kelp gives up to 30% of the RDA of iron, four times the amount in spinach, and more than kidney beans, apricots, and peas

  •  The same size serving of Alaria contains more calcium than ½ cup boiled kale or bok-choy

  •  Magnesium is twice as abundant in Kelp and Alaria than in  collard greens, and exceedswalnuts, bananas, potatoes, oatmeal, and even sockeye salmon.

Sea vegetables present these essential nutrients to your body in a chelated and colloidal, optimally balanced form so they are bio-available—that is, your body “understands” how to absorb and utilize them. Major minerals examples are:

  • Calcium (for skeletal health, healthy heartbeat, nervous system function)

  •  Magnesium (activates enzymatic activity, essential for healthy heartbeat)

  • Potassium (naturally prevents high blood pressure, provides cellular energy)

  • Sodium (essential for the correct balance of body fluids—our internal “ocean”)

  •  Iron (as hemoglobin, transports and distributes oxygen to all your cells)

Trace elements are especially essential to the countless enzymatic functions constantly occurring in your body. Examples are:

  • Chromium (works with insulin to regulate blood sugar)

  •  Iodine (thyroid health)

  • Copper (protects nerve sheaths, builds supple arteries, required for iron absorption)

Finally, consider this:  our “inner ocean”—the saline fluids around and in our cells and organs—has a similar range and balance of minerals as does the ocean. Sea vegetables concentrate this mineral matrix. When you eat sea veggies, your cells recognize this natural, harmonious, health giving balance.

What about Sodium?

Sodium is a major mineral that is essential to human health and life. Along with potassium it provides the electrolytic “battery” that pumps nutrients in and out of cells. It also works with potassium to maintain the proper balance of fluids inside and outside each cell. The evolutionary assumption is that dietary sodium is not easily found in the environment; therefore our bodies are set up to retain scarce and valuable sodium. Sodium’s partner, potassium, was plentiful in the Biblical diets (found in vegetables, nuts, seeds, and fruits) and so we do not retain potassium.

Modern humans run into trouble when our modern “civilized” diet reverses the natural availability of sodium and potassium—potassium is leached out of processed foods, and sodium is used extravagantly as a flavor enhancer and preservative. Topsy-turvy!  Because this imbalance—and the lack of magnesium and calcium—is implicated in high blood pressure  disease, and because unnatural, manufactured table salt is exclusively sodium chloride, sodium has gotten a bad rap! Sea vegetables provide bio-available, essential sodium balanced with potassium (as well as with calcium and magnesium) at relatively low levels per serving…

What about Iodine?

Dr. Ryan Drum, noted herbalist and sea vegetable gatherer, states in Therapeutic Use of Seaweeds(Proceedings of the 2001 Pacific Northwest Herbal Symposium) Seaweeds, eaten regularly, are the best natural food sources of biomolecular dietary iodine... no land plants are reliable sources of dietary iodine.

For comparison, you would have to eat about 40 lb. of fresh vegetables and/or fruits to get as much iodine as you would from one gram of whole leaf kelp.

Iodine is the main component of the hormone produced by the thyroid gland, which regulates our metabolism—thyroid hormone accelerates cellular reactions, increases oxygen consumption and basal metabolism, and influences growth and development, energy metabolism, differentiation and protein synthesis.

Dr. Linda Rector Page, author and herbalist, writes in Healthy Healing (pg 205): Iodine is essential to life... it is an important element of alertness, and rapid brain activity, and a prime deterrent to arterial plaque. Iodine is also a key factor in the control and prevention of many endocrine deficiency conditions prevalent today, such as breast and uterine fibroids, tumors, prostate inflammation, adrenal exhaustion, and toxic liver and kidney states.

Unfortunately, not all iodine is good for us and the human thyroid cannot distinguish between life   sustaining iodine-127 and radioactive iodine-131. On this subject Ryan Drum further warns, The real reason for making sure that iodine consumption is at the high end is to insure a full body complement of iodine at all times as preventative medicine against the next nuclear disasters [whether from intentional radioactive pollution as the result of armed conflict or terrorism, nuclear power plant failures, or industrial contamination].    A full body load of iodine 127 from seaweeds (or any source) will tend to allow the body to reject topical and air and food-source iodine 131, particularly from fresh milk.”

In general, brown sea vegetables (kelps) offer more bio-available organic iodine than red sea vegetables(dulse, laver, and nori)…

Sea Veggies and Vitamins

Sea vegetables contain significant amounts of vitamins especially the B vitamins…

Vitamin B-12 shows up in many seaweeds, using several different methods of analysis. But is it really Vitamin B-12, or an “analogue,” a molecule that looks like Vitamin B-12, but it not able to be utilized by the body? Dietitians and nutritionists disagree on this hot topic, a definitive clinical study has yet to be done…

However, an investigation by two researchers in Great Britain in the 1950’s yielded an important clue as to how sea veggies could be a rare vegetable source of Vitamin B-12—which is produced by bacteria and usually found only in animals. They confirmed the presence of cyanocobalamin (Vit B-12) in dulse, but could not find the mechanism by which the plant might be metabolizing the Vit B-12. The two scientists speculated that it was made perhaps by bacteria living in the surrounding seawater or on the surface of the plant. (It is well known that various species of bacteria, or epiphytes, use the plants’ surface as their substrate).

So, while we feel it is likely that low temperature dried, minimally processed sea vegetables may be a source of Vitamin B-12, you, of course, must decide for yourself. Please consult with your health care practitioner if you have any questions about your consumption of B-12.

Sea Veggies and Protein

The protein content of sea vegetables ranges from 16% to 28%. The red sea vegetables, Dulse and Laver,  are higher than the browns, Kelp and Alaria. The amino acid composition of these sea veggie proteins is generally well balanced and contains all or most of the essential amino acids (the ones your body can’t produce by itself). Thus the sea veggies provide higher quality protein than certain grains and beans that are lacking one or two essential amino acids, although the sea vegetables provide less quantity per serving…

One of the more important amino acids found especially in kelp is glutamic acid, the basis for synthetic MSG. This amino acid naturally enhances flavors and tenderizes high protein foods like beans while aiding in their digestion. Glutamic acid also improves mental and nervous system activity; provides energy, and is thought to help control alcoholism, schizophrenia and the craving for sugar.

Sea Vegetables and Fats

Sea Vegetables are good for people who are managing their weight. Not only are they very low in mostly unsaturated fat—1% to 2%--their iodine can stimulate the thyroid to increase metabolism and burn calories. Further, their fiber aids digestion.

Brown sea vegetables have been tested for Omega-6 and Omega-3 essential fatty acids, and while they are present in only small amounts, they occur in a favorable ratio of between 1.5 and 2 to 1 (the NIH suggests an optimal ratio of between 2 and 3 to 1). As importantly, sea veggies contribute all those minerals, vitamins, and trace elements needed for the optimum utilization of the omega 3’s and 6’s.

Sea Vegetables and Fiber

Fiber is any substance that remains essentially undigested by the time it reaches the large intestine. A high fiber diet is thought to help prevent certain types of cancer. It also helps glucose metabolism, a factor especially important for diabetics The fiber in land plants (oats, apples, and veggies) is made up of cellulose, lignans, and pectin. Sea veggies have their own unique fiber with interesting medicinal properties... For example, alginic acid in kelp has been shown to be an important detoxifier for radioactive isotopes and heavy metals.

Dulse, Kelp, Alaria, and Laver test about 30% total fiber, about one half of which is soluble fiber and one half insoluble. For comparison, Dulse has about 33% total fiber, as much as oat bran. Of course, because you usually eat a larger serving size of oat bran than of sea veggies, you’ll get more fiber per serving from the oat bran. But every time you eat sea veggies, you’re getting high quality and very special fiber.

Sea Vegetables and Cancer

Sea vegetables have been used for centuries in Japanese and Chinese medicine for treatment of cancer. Recent scientific research has started to verify this traditional usage. For example, a study in 1995 demonstrated antitumor activity in kelp (Ascophyllum and Fucus species) against leukemia P-388. Certain compounds in kombu (Laminaria japonica) and wakame (Undaria pinnatifida) have been shown to have anti-mutagenic activity. Fucons (sulfated polysaccharides) extracted from brown sea veggies—the “kelps”—have been shown to inhibit cell growth, which means they may be able to inhibit the growth of cancer cells. In fact, a Japanese investigation duplicated a traditional Chinese medicinal formula using kelp (Laminaria species) and achieved reduction in size and number of tumors in laboratory experiments.

Currently very exciting work with cancer and sea veggies is being done by Dr. Jane Teas who is affiliated with the Interdisciplinary Programs and Health at the Harvard School of Public Health. In 1981 she published a paper on a number of well-documented reasons why the consumption of seaweed, particularly the kelps, might be a factor in the lower rate of breast cancer found in postmenopausal women in Japan. It has been noted that many sea vegetables contain significant amounts of lignans, more than legumes, whole grains, vegetables and fruits (but less than flaxseed). These lignans become phytoestrogens in the body and bond preferentially to the estrogen receptor site. Thus they may have therapeutic and preventative value against cancers in which estrogen plays a part, such as breast cancer.

Dr. Teas is now conducting research on 25 postmenopausal women to see if alaria (and other brown seaweeds) supply enough phytoestrogens to provide an effective, natural alternative to estrogen replacement therapy.

Dr. Ryan Drum, Ph.D., states that fucoidan (a compound found in brown sea vegetables such as kelp and bladderwrack) Is extremely anti-proliferative against cancer cells. It also interferes with every stage of viral attack: cell attachment, cell penetration, and intracellular virion production. As an interesting indication of our deep biological connection to the sea vegetables, Dr. Ryan points out that All human cells studied are found to have receptor sites for Fucose, the end-group sugar on fucoidan. (from his papers SeaVegetables and Seaweeds, and Seaweed Therapeutics, PHWHS 2001).

Finally, Dr. Andrew Weil reports in his newsletter that Scientists at the National Cancer Institute are now investigating the anti-cancer properties of seaweeds…

Sea Vegetables and Heart Disease

Traditional oriental medicine has long held that the use of seaweeds reduces the risk of heart disease.Recent research sited by Dr. Zakir Romazanov in Neutraceuticals World (Vol.2, No. 6) claims that certain elements in bladderwrack (Fucus vesiculosis) and rockweed (Ascophyllum nodosum) have the ability to lower blood plasma cholesterol levels, a key to heart health. Dr. Seibin Arasaki in Vegetables from the Sea also identifies five different studies involving numerous seaweed species that have shown cholesterol-lowering activity.

Lowering blood pressure is another way of taking care of the heart. High levels of potassium in the blood have been proven to help reduce the risk of high blood pressure. All seaweeds offer extraordinary levels of potassium...

Sea Vegetables and Hypertension

Back in the late 60’s in England Dr. Eric Powell, Ph.D., N.D., successfully treated patients suffering from hypertension with Bladderwrack (Fucus sp), which he called kelp. He writes in his book Kelp, the Health Giver (distributed by Nutri Books), Kelp has a normalizing action on the thyroid and parathyroid. Better function of the parathyroid glands means that the system can take up and utilize mineral matter to the best advantage: in particular calcium, iodine, and sodium which all play a part in maintaining the health and elasticity of the arterial walls.

Debra Ahern, Ph.D., R.N., reporting her findings in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association(Vol.89, No.7), sees it a little differently. It is well known to dietitians that people with low blood potassium levels are more prone to hypertension. Dr. Ahern maintained that seaweed-based seasonings provide not only high concentrations of potassium but also chloride, a means of retaining this potassium. In her study she says, Chloride may play an indirect positive role in hypertension by allowing renal retention of potassium. If this is the case, potassium sources that provide chloride may be more effective in raising blood plasma levels than fruits and vegetables. The high chloride content of those seasonings with seaweed may make them good sources of potassium of clients at risk of hypokalemia (too little potassium).

And finally, an article, “Blood Pressure and Nutrient Intake,” from U.S. Science magazine states that higher intakes of calcium, potassium, and sodium are associated with lower mean systolic pressure and lower absolute risk of hypertension.

Sea Vegetables and Radioactive/Heavy Metal Detoxification

Sea vegetables’ effectiveness in treating radiation and heavy metal poisoning is well documented and well known worldwide. The first studies on fighting radiation poisoning with seaweed were started 30 years ago at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Researchers found that alginic acid, one of the important intercellular poly-saccharides found in large brown algae like Kelp and Alaria, could reduce the amount of strontium 90 absorbed through the intestinal wall. (S.C. Skoryna et al, “Intestinal Absorption of Radioactive Strontium,” Canadian Medical Association Journal 191, 1964)

Even the U.S. government has done research on the detoxifying qualities of alginates from Kelp. TheEPA’s Environmental Toxicology Lab found that alginates could bind and eliminate both radionucleidessuch as Strontium 90 and heavy metals such as cadmium. They also discovered that Strontium already stored in the bones was re-secreted and bound by the alginates and safely passed through the intestines. Thus the remarkable kelps can help alleviate past as well as present toxic contamination. (Steven Schacter, Fighting Radiation with Food, Herbs and Vitamins, East West Health Books, 1988)

After the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in Russia Maine Coast Sea Vegetables noticed an increase in sales of Kelp and joined with other small producers in sending a kelp care package to survivors. The Russians have been seriously researching the use of their kelps from Vladivostok, from which they have isolated the polysaccharide U-Fucoidan, a radioactive detoxifier. Another very important function of sea vegetables in helping our bodies fight radiation poisoning takes place in the thyroid gland, where radioactive Iodine 131 (for example, from a nuclear power plant emission) can accumulate. Dr. Ryan Drum tells us that We are regularly taking in radioactive isotopes from the total world contamination by continual radioactive fallout from all nuclear power plants, weapons facilities and past nuclear tests.

If our thyroid is full with “healthy” iodine, it will not absorb the radioactive contaminant. So it serves us well to keep our thyroids full of natural, organic iodine. Sea vegetables are the best food source of iodine. Of all the sea vegetables, Kelp is the most significant source…

Sea Vegetables as an Anti-inflammatory

Traditional uses of sea vegetables particularly in Asia have shown it to provide some therapeutic effect on the inflammatory response, particularly in tissue wounds. Ryan Drum, Ph.D., herbalist and seaweed specialist, asserts that fucoidan is the bio-active element in brown seaweed responsible for lessening the inflammatory response…

Sea Vegetables as an Anti-viral

Ryan Drum, Ph.D., herbalist and seaweed specialist, indicates several elements in sea veggies that make plausible their traditional use as antivirals. Fucoidan, a water soluble compound found in the brown algae, has been shown to interfere with every stage of viral attack: cell attachment, cell penetration, and viral intracellular penetration. He also notes that certain polysaccharides or glycoproteins from red seaweeds (dulse and laver are red seaweeds) have been successfully used in treating genital herpes and Herpes Zosters. He also notes in the seaweed literature that carrageenan derivatives have expressed strong antiviral activity.

Sea Vegetables and Joint Pain

Thalassotherapy in European spas and seaweed baths in the British Isles have been traditional methods of relieving muscle and joint pains. Victorian English flocked to the seaweed baths and immersed themselves in very hot water filled with Bladderwrack (Fucus species) or other highly mucilaginous seaweeds with high iodine content to ease their aches and pains. A number of these bathhouses still exist and more are being planned in Western Ireland, according to Ryan Drum, Ph.D. He also believes seaweed can help with knee joint deterioration. He treated a 50-year-old woman with such severe knee pain she was forced to walk with a cane. By soaking her knees daily for almost a year in 16” high rubber boots filled with a bladderwrack suspension (bladderwrack in hot water), he reported a complete recovery. Dr. Drum speculates that her success might be attributed to fucoidan and the biomolecular iodine compounds that were passing transdermally into her legs.

Sea Vegetables and the Thyroid

Most seaweeds are a good source of Iodine 127, the biomolecular compound the thyroid gland needs fo rproper functioning. Ryan Drum, Ph.D., points out that bladderwrack (Fucus species) provides diiodotyrosine (DIT) which is a precursor to forming the essential thyroid hormones Thyroxine (T4) and Triiodothyronine (T3). He claims that in providing the immediate precursors for T4 and T3 Fucus seems particularly effective in treating both hypothyroidism and Graves hyperthyroidism.

Another important reason to get plenty of sea vegetables’ Iodine 127 into the thyroid is to prevent uptake of radioactive and toxic Iodine 131, which in modern times has a background presence in our food and air supply, and which is likely to be a major pollutant of a nuclear accident. By “loading” the thyroid with healthy Iodine, we can maintain our health even if fallout levels increase dramatically…

Radiation and Sea Vegetables

12/31/2013

As you know, Japanese nuclear plants are leaking radiation. We are talking about radiation and how we can help people, because we have in Body Balance, the ability to make a positive impact on the entire country. News reports suggest there are increased levels of radiation from Hawaii to California, and all the way to the East coast.

Another concern is how fallout from the crippled reactor in Japan might affect agriculture in the Western U.S., as so many of our fruits and vegetables come from California and the Northwest. Spring rains could well bring radioactive fallout to this year’s crop, and how will radiation in the soil affect future crops?

In Washington, low levels of iodine – 131 has been detected in milk. While the radiation level is low, it contributes to the ongoing radiation exposure that American are exposed to everyday.

Everyday exposures include; some food and water, television, cell phones, computers, radon that is found is basements, smoke detectors, medical equipment such as; x-ray machines, cat scans, radioisotopes for heart disease diagnosis, and even cigarette smoke. Smokers receive doses of polonium-210 and 218 radiation that settle in the lungs. Cancer patients are exposed to ongoing levels of radiation through diagnoses and treatment. Not only are these risks a problem, cosmic radiation exposure is also a risk.

Cosmic radiation exposure is measured in altitude. Mountain climbers and those who live at higher elevations are at risk. Pilots, flight attendants and airline travelers are also exposed to increased risk in radiation. If this doesn’t grab your attention, maybe the following will.

According to Duke University, any amount of radiation can be dangerous because of the potential effect on living cells. Radiation can disrupt normal chemical processes causing them to grow abnormally or die. If excessive exposure occurs, the cells may not be able to replace themselves fast enough.

According to an Associated Press article, dated March 28, 2011, it states, “small doses of radiation over time can cause DNA damage and an increased risk of certain cancers.” In the same article, acute exposure such as the event in Japan, can cause radiation sickness which includes nausea, vomiting and hair loss. Moreover, death may be imminent because of this exposure.

I discovered something very disturbing, and yet fascinating as I went shopping at my local natural foods store. All of the kelp dietary supplements were sold out. This is a phenomenon that is occurring in natural foods stores throughout the Western USA and across the country. While government officials are saying risk of radiation exposure is low from the nuclear reactor catastrophe in Japan, US citizens aren’t buying it. Instead, they are buying foods, nutritional supplements and natural medicines to counter the effects of radiation, to the point where these products are out of stock in many stores throughout the country.

At a natural grocers in nearby Grand Junction, CO they were also sold out of all kelp and much of their green food supplements. I spoke with nutritionists in the store and they recommend kelp, chlorella, spirulina, green foods, selenium and lots of dark green leafy vegetables to help counter the effects of radioactive fallout. So I started doing some research and this is some of what I learned.

While supplies of potassium iodide supplements are rapidly vanishing from pharmacy shelves, few people realize that there are natural sources of iodine that provide more than adequate protection against radiation. Among those foods, sea vegetables rank the highest. Sea vegetables are often referred to as a super food, offering a wide variety of minerals and trace elements. But it’s the sea veggies high concentration of potassium iodide that protects the thyroid from potential radioactive iodine contamination.

Susan Matthews, M.S. and Life Force member states, “On a daily basis, the pituitary stimulates the thyroid gland to produce thyroid hormones T3 and T4. If there is a threat of exposure to radioactive iodine, one protective measure is to flood the thyroid gland with “good iodine” so “bad” iodine would find no binding sites and be flushed out of the body. Of course Body Balance is an excellent organic source of iodine. It is readily absorbed and taken up by our thyroid gland.”

According to Dr. Linda Page, seaweeds purify all the world’s oceans – they can do the same for your body. Seaweeds like kelp, dulce and irish moss can protect us from a wide range of toxic elements in the environment, including radiation by-products, converting them into harmless salts that our bodies can eliminate. Natural iodine in seaweeds can reduce by almost 80% radioactive iodine-131 that is absorbed by the thyroid. Seaweeds are so effective that even the US Atomic Energy Commission recommends that people consume two to three ounces of seaweeds a week or two tablespoons of seaweed supplements a day for maximum protection against radiation poisoning.

During or after direct exposure to radiation, the A.E.C. recommends 8 tablespoons of sea vegetables daily.

We know that there is no safe level of radiation. Radioactive material has a half-life of 25,000 years. Once inside the body, it’s emitting destructive effects upon our cells once inside the body for a lifetime. Dr. Apsley, who was reported in the Sacramento Examiner, praised the benefits of kelp as a means of warding off the damage of radiation. He states, “You can also eat nori sea vegetables in your soup or sprinkle some dulce on your canned salmon.”

Radio talk show hosts mentioned the protective effects of plain old seaweed and how seaweed/sea vegetables kept people alive when they were exposed to radiation during World War II.

Have you heard of the old news of two different Japanese hospitals which were one mile away from the atomic blasts of WWII? Dr. Akizuki fed his patients traditional Japanese food such as seaweed, vegetables, and brown rice from that communal area. His hospital used all natural seaweed and vegetables and the other used commercial foods. In the former institution eating the sea vegetables, “virtually 100 percent” of the people lived, while, in the latter hospital, on commercial foods that did not include seaweed, brown rice, and lots of vegetables including cabbage, all of the people died.

Another account is when Dr. Wade W. Molter, a radiation expert at Harvard University, explained that ½ of the 90,000 survivors of the atomic bombs in 1945 survived 50 years later. Could sea vegetables be a part of their protection? That is a question we could ask.

Again, Dr. Linda Page has much to say about this topic. In western countries, land vegetables are the traditional sources of greens, but vegetables from the sea are nutritious foods and powerful healers that have been used by European and Asian cultures for centuries. I eat sea vegetables every day. I recommend them as a critical part of many healing programs – detoxification, illness recovery, heart health, hormone balancing for women (and men) and much more! Sea vegetables can literally transform your health .When you drink sea vegetables, or take seaweed baths, you’re tapping in to the ancestral and restorative source of all life – the ocean. Just a few of the miraculous health benefits of sea vegetables are:

Super nutrition – ounce for ounce, along with herbs, sea vegetables are higher in vitamins and minerals than any other food. Sea vegetables are really the ocean’s deep greens, rich in vegetable protein, and full-spectrum concentrations of important carotenes, chlorophyll, enzymes, amino acids and fiber. They are the only vegetarian source of B-12 for cell health, containing amounts that rival beef liver (the leading animal source). They’re an excellent source of body building minerals like calcium, iron, iodine and potassium. Sea vegetables contain trace minerals like boron, chromium and selenium that are vital to health, but that modern farming techniques have leached from the soil.

Our body fluids have the same chemical composition as sea water. The same trace elements that run through the oceans run through the human body. Sea plant chemical composition is so close to human plasma, that perhaps the greatest benefit from sea vegetables is promoting our internal re-balance. Sea vegetables act as the ocean’s purifiers, and they perform many of the same functions for our bodies.

Detoxification – Sea vegetables offer superior protection from radiation and heavy poisoning. Studies done at McGill University reveal algin, a component of sea greens like kelp, binds to heavy metals and chemical pollutants in the intestinal tract, allowing them to be safely eliminated from the body. Sea plant algin even binds to radioactive strontium (one of the most hazardous atomic pollutants), radioactive iodiodine-131, barium, zinc and cadmium, flushing them out of the body before they can poison us. Sea vegetables are so effective that the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission recommends that people consume two to three ounces of sea vegetables a day for maximum protection against radiation poisoning.

We, of course, do not claim to diagnose, treat or prevent any disease.

So, as far as you can see, this is the perfect time to talk to everyone you know and love about drinking our wonderful sea veggie elixir. And like I always say, “Everyone on the planet needs Body Balance.”

And now….more than ever.

Benefits of Salt

11/30/2013

 IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS OF SALT

  1. Salt is a strong natural antihistamine. It can be used to relieve asthma by putting it on the tongue after drinking a glass or two of water. It is an effective inhaler without the toxicity.

  2. Salt is a strong “anti-stress” element for the Body

  3. Salt is vital for extracting excess acidity from inside the cells, particularly the brain cells. Excess acidity can damage the cells DNA structure & be the initiating mechanism for cancer formation in some cells. If you don't want Alzheimer's, don't go salt-free or use diuretic meds. Salt is vital for kidneys to clear excess acidity. Without sufficient salt in the body, the body will become more and more acidic.

  4. Salt is essential in the treatment of emotional disorders. Lithium is a salt substitute that is used in treatment of depression. Salt will prevent depression.

  5. Salt is essential for preserving the serotonin and melatonin levels in the brain. Maintaining self-confidence and a positive self-image - as controlled by serotonin and melatonin production

  6. Salt is vital for the prevention and treatment of cancer. Cancer must live in a low-oxygen environment. In a well-hydrated body, salt expands the volume of blood circulation to reach all parts of the body where oxygen and the immune cells in the blood can reach the cancerous tissue and destroy it.

  7. Salt is vital for maintaining muscle tone and strength. Lack of bladder control is indicator of low salt intake.

  8. Salt is effective in stabilizing irregular heartbeats

  9. Salt is essential for the regulation of blood pressure – in conjunction with water. Low-salt with high water intake will in some people actually cause blood pressure to rise. If you drink water and do not take salt, the water will not stay in the blood circulation adequately to completely fill all the blood vessels. This can cause fainting, tightening of the arteries (rise in blood pressure) , constriction of bronchioles in the lunges (breathlessness) To quiet a racing and “thumping” heart, Take one or two glasses of water and a little salt on the tongue

  10. Salt is vital for sleep regulation – it is a natural hypnotic. If you drink a full glass of water, then put a few grains of salt on your tongue and let it stay there, you will fall into a natural, deep sleep. Caution: Do not use salt on your tongue unless you also drink water. Repeated use of salt by itself might cause nose bleeds.

  11. Salt is vitally needed element in the treatment of diabetics. Helps balance the sugar levels in the blood and reduces the need for insulin.

  12. Salt is vital for the generation of hydroelectric energy in all the cells in the body.

  13. Salt is vital to the communication and information processing of nerve cells in the brain

  14. Salt is vital for the absorption of food particles through the intestinal tract.

  15. Salt is vital for clearing the lungs of mucus plugs and sticky phlegm particularly in asthma, emphysema, and cystic fibrosis . Also Catarrh and sinus congestion

  16. Salt on the tongue will stop persistent dry coughs

  17. Prevention of gout and Gouty arthritis

  18. Prevention of muscle cramps – especially in unexercised muscles. Should also increase vitamin and mineral intake Body Balance

  19. Preventing excess saliva production to the point that it flows out of the mouth during sleep.

  20. Reducing a double chin. The salivary glands produce more saliva to lubricate the act of chewing and swallowing and to supply the stomach with water that it needs for breaking down foods. Therefore circulation to the salivary glands increases and the blood vessels become “leaky” in order to supply the glands with more water with will increase the bulk under the skin of the chin, cheeks, and into the neck.

  21. Makes the structure of bones firm - 27 % of the salt content of the body is stored in the bones in the form of crystals. These salt crystals are used to make bones hard. Thus, salt deficiency in the body can cause salt to be taken out of the bones to maintain its vital normal levels of salt in the blood.

  22. Prevention of Osteoporosis

  23. Maintaining sexuality and libido.

  24. Preventing varicose veins and spider veins in the legs and thighs.

  25. Sea salt contains about 80 mineral elements in trace amounts. Ordinary table salt has been stripped of its companion elements and contains additives such as aluminum silicate to keep it powdery and porous. It has also been dried at over 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit; the excessive heat alters the natural chemical structure of the salt.

Aluminum is toxic to the nervous system and is implicate as one of the primary causes of alzheimers.

  26. Salt intake before exercise will increase the lung's capacity for air exchange. And decrease excess sweating. Caution: excess potassium is bad for asthma. Ex. too much orange juice, bananas, or sports drinks, especially if taken before exercise can cause and exercise-induced asthma attack. This is why it is good to add salt to Orange juice, melon or other fruits to balance the sodium-potassium.

See Dr. Mercola's interview with Barbara Hendel to learn more about using salt (eye/nasal solution) 2lb. In tub for 20-30 minute to detoxify and absorb minerals. Also Salt Lamps Vibration – healing. Salt goes into air ionizing electrical polution + & _ Balances.

How has the new Body Balance been changed

How has the new Body Balance been changed

By Christa Way

Motivation to fortify Body Balance was prompted by the escalating soil depletion seen across the world as well as the simultaneous decline of health seen. We are all aware of the studies done in Brazil at the earth summit in 1992 – 20 years ago - where the United States was determined to have 85% soil depletion. The issues affecting soil depletion then have not improved, therefore the needs for nutrition today are much greater than they were almost 30 years ago when Body Balance was first formulated. In addition to this, the levels of stress have gone up and we are dealing with more toxic load and our food supply is being more adulterated than ever before; therefore the need for more minerals. Lets look at the improvements.

Changes in the Aloe Vera in Body Balance:

Aloe vera is known to have more than 200 healing nutrients including glycoproteins, minerals, vitamins and polysaccharides, ect. The problem with saccharides is that they are easily destroyed in the processing and are normally available in only tiny amounts in Aloe Products. It is amazing that there are so many benefits reported on the use of Aloe in spite of this. Life Force has improved the processing of aloe in the result is:

  • Polysaccharide Count has gone way up.

  • Why is this important?

  1. Saccharides primarily act as a bridge between Foreign proteins (such as viruses, bacteria and fungus) and Immune cells call Macrophages which destroy those foreign proteins. Now not only does the Aloe tell the immune cells where these pathogens are, but helps the macrophage go straight to the foreign protein and destroy it!

  2. Saccharides also protect the bone marrow from damage by toxic chemicals. Therefore the new Body Balance will push our bone and joint health sky high. We are bombared by toxins in our environment daily. If there are any mineral deficiencies at all, for example in the bones and connective tissues, then toxic chemicals move in. Something has to use up that space. If it isn't a mineral, then it will be a chemical. There cannot be a vacuum. Bone marrow is where our immune system is birthed, therefore this will up our immune health at the same time.

  3. These long chain sugars inject themselves into every cell membrane in the body. This increases the permeability of the cell walls. Now the toxins can flow out better and the nutrients can come in more easily.

  4. We see improved cellular metabolism which will be seen in overall energy production improvement

Changes in the Sea Vegetables in the Body Balance

  • There are now 60% more Sea vegetables than before. -- That's more than double. Our body needs according to the newest counts 82 minerals a day. Nothing else even comes close to this count.

  • After a lot of experimenting with the combinations of Sea Vegetables, they have changed the ratios of the 9 different kinds of sea vegetables to enhance the healing ability and increase the mineral count in the Body Balance.

  • What this means for us:

More mineral content! Minerals are the foundation of all health. All enzyme activity involves minerals. Everything one of the billions of processes that happens in the human body starts with enzymes - for example heart beat, nerve impulses, brain function, and digestion, ect. Those enzymes are fed by minerals. Therefore no enzyme functions well without the full range of minerals available. In addition, without the minerals no other nutrients can be used by the body. Minerals need to come from food – Supplementation of minerals doesn't work very well. *See example below Minerals have to be taken together in right ratios or things get out of balance. Since the soils are deplete in minerals, we have to get adequate minerals from the sea. Trace minerals are as equally important for proper functioning of the cells as are macro minerals that we are more aware of. We cannot build optimum health without either. The unique health giving properties of the Specific combination of the 9 sea vegetables and the aloe of Body Balance has a unique synergistic effect. Christa had eaten sea weed for years before taking Body Balance, yet when she started taking Body Balance she was mineral deficient. Body Balance is more effective than just taking Aloe with Sea Vegetables. We know that Aloe is a carrier that helps take minerals into the cells, yet in Christa's experience, the formulation of Body Balance gives greater results than anything she had tried.

How will these changes affect us?

  • All our cells will be more efficient in taking in nutrients

  • all our cells will be better at ridding toxins

  • All cells will have access to a new higher level of energy

  • Deeper sense of vitality

  • Immune cells will be way more potent in ability to track down and kill pathogen. The new polysaccarides build a bridge between the pathogens and the immune cell so now the immune cells can't miss!

  • Will be sick a lot less

  • Allergies will improve.

  • Every process in the body will operate at a higher level from heart beat, nerve impulses, brain function, digestion, etc.

Questions/Answers:

  1. Christa starts everyone on 4 oz. / day and then ups it when they can to 8 oz./ Day. She continues to do the same recommendation, even if a person is really weak. If this makes them uncomfortable (detox) for any reason, it can be cut back .

  2. She anticipates that there won't be a significant increase in detox because the healing benefits are stronger.

  3. She does anticipate seeing quicker benefits for new people as well as seeing new results for people who have been drinking it for years.

  4. The company is working on the Powdered Body Balance fortification and there is no word on when or if that will be changed. The aloe is the part to figure out because it is never dried in the liquid Body Balance.

  5. The Body Balance can be used topically for skin issues. Just spray it on the skin. The Aloe is well known for its soothing/healing abilities and absorbing water and nutrients. It is helpful for reducing scarring and is a good aftershave. The nutrients are absorbed through the skin as well.

  6. Will be available in New Zealand 2 to 3 months after the U.S.

  7. It is expected that people will cell saturate in less time with less product.

  8. Body Balance's aloe is only the gel from the inside of the aloe leaf. There are 3 layers of an aloe leaf – outer skin, membrane and the inner gel. There is a substance called aloin that is part of the inner membrane of the skin. This aloin induces diarrhea and is contraindicated for pregnancy as it causes contractions in the abdomen. Life Force uses only the gel from inside the leaf so it is totally safe.

  9. Body Balance is sustainable harvested from wild plants. What this means is that they don't rip the plants up by the roots, rather they just cut off the tops. This accomplishes two things. First, the nutrients are more concentrated in the new growth and secondly, this prunes the plant so they grow even faster.

  10. Radiation. Radiation moves quicker in the air than in the water. Therefore, there have been radiation contamination from Fukishima seen in the Pacific and on the West Coast. Life Force doesn't harvest their sea vegetables in the Pacific at all. They harves in the North Atlantic close to Canada. In addition Life Force tests for radiation contamination in their product and find it to be clear of any contamination.

  11. Aloe is still grown in Mexico at a different farm but still in the same area.

* Example of what can happen to a person who takes an iron Supplement: (from Dr. Paul Eck's studies)

  1. Sodium Goes Up as a consequence of stimulating the adrenal glands.

  2. Magnesium goes down because sodium lowers magnesium

  3. Calcium goes down to try to maintain the same calcium/magnesium ration

  4. Potassium goes up when Calcium goes down

  5. Nitrogen goes down because the person is going into fast oxidaiton, he is starting to cannabalize his own proteins, instead of building them

  6. Copper goes down because tissues respiration is speeding up. If the copper level goes too low, the person moves into a cancer danger zone

  7. Zinc goes down as copper goes down to maintain the proper ration with it. Lowering of zinc will eventually exhaust the adrenals making you more tired than before you started taking the iron.

  8. Manganese goes up since zinc and manganese normally move in opposite directions. Eventually, manganese reserves will become depleted. This is unfortunate because Manganese in combination with iron makes a person strong physically and emotionally

Result is that a person is weaker than he was before he began taking the iron supplements. Each mineral in the body has an effect on all the other minerals. No mineral works alone. This is why taking Body Balance is the only safe way to get your extra minerals because it is balanced perfectly for the use of our cells by the Creator.

How to take Body Balance

8/17/2012

Congratulations on your decision to try Body Balance!

In order to get the most benefit from Body Balance keep these things in mind:

Note:  2 oz. = 1/4 cup  &   4 oz. = 1/2 cup
  1. Keep the liquid refrigerated after opening as well as the powdered To Go Sticks after you've mixed it if not consuming it immediately. Some people like it best cold, so try refrigerating the liquid before you try it.
  2. Mix the To Go Sticks into 4 oz. (1/2 Cup ) of Cold Water.  Stir or shake if in a bottle.  If you are shaking it in a bottle, wait a bit because it will fizz a bit.  You may mix the Body Balance to Go sticks with the Vitali-C powder if desired.
  3. Taking the product on an empty stomach either 20 to 30 minutes before you eat and 2 hours after eating will give you the best absorption.  This product doesn't need digestion to be used.  It is used from the stomach up.
  4. You may divide your dosages into two or three times a day, first thing in the morning, mid-morning and/or early afternoon
  5. Do not take  later than 3:00 pm as some people -although not all- have trouble sleeping if taken later
  6.  Please give Body Balance a  consistent trial  for a minimal of 3 months.  This is the amount of time needed for average cell growth to take place.
  7. If you are not satisfied with the product for any reason, you can return all the Empty bottles for a full  90 day product refund!  This is a risk free Trial

There are different approaches in how to take Body Balance  - all of which are beneficial.  Because it is truly whole food, you can safely  experiment with how much you take.   The amount you choose will depend upon how quickly you desire to or need to  see results
  1. Begin with a 2 oz. serving on an empty stomach first thing in the morning about 20 minutes before eating. Add 2 more ounces to your program 4 days later.  You are now taking 4 ounces daily. Many people will see the results you are looking for at this level. Although,
  2. If you have a more serious health issue, try increasing up to 6 to 8 oz. Daily and stay there until you get the results. Most people will see results at this level. Remember, we are working at a cellular level and for new cell growth to happen, please give it 3 months minimal. For every year you've suffered with a health issue, give at least one month to start to see changes.  After you begin to see your results, you can go back to a maintenance dose, usually 2 – 4 oz. a day.
  3. Cellular Saturation is the most serious approach, which sometimes your health will demand that you take this approach so you can function in life again as you desire to.  If you can do this whole program, you will have the opportunity to experience a level of health you didn't know existed.  It is a gradual increase  starting  with a 2 oz. serving, adding 2 more ounces 4 days later. Then, continue adding 2 ounces every 4 days until you reach “Cell Saturation.” See Recommended Wellness Program http://www.hollysdream.com/health/RWP_Full.php for full details.

Markers that show your cells are benefiting from the Body Balance

  • Consistent energy and more of it throughout the day
  • Emotional well-being and even temperament
  • Highs and lows less volatile
  • Emotional well-being and even temperament
  • Sleeping less and waking up more refreshed
  • Eating less because the body is getting fed the essential nutrients and rare earth minerals
  • Food Cravings diminished if not gone
  • Weight loss, (if needed)
  • Ability to focus and concentrate for longer periods
  • Immune  system improved
  • Better resistance to colds and flu’s
  • Common symptoms often alleviated such as: headaches, allergies, asthma, etc.
Another Marker that shows the Body Balance is working is Detox:
With the extra nutrients of Body Balance flooding your cells, you body will determine that it is safe to get rid of some of the toxins that are being harbored in your body and do some housecleaning.  This is a GOOD sign that things are improving because removal of toxins clears the stage for the rebuilding and repairing that starts at the cellular level.   Many people do not notice this happening as their eliminitive channels are getting rid of the toxins as fast as the cells are releasing them.  Although  about 40 to 50% of people who do the Cellular Saturation approach  may experience some form of detoxification symptoms.  You can bull through these or you can control them by simply reducing the dosage of Body Balance for a few days and waiting before increasing again. Typical detox symptoms are slight headache, fatigue, nausea, irritability, lose stools. Sometimes on rare occasion if there are a lot of toxins from medications etc. people have had hives/rashes, body aches/pains, and even the flu like symptoms. Detox symptoms generally only last 1-3 days. Drink plenty of water and keep the colon working well while detoxing. A Body Wrap is also a good choice to implement to speed the toxin removal from the body in a safe and relaxing way.    For more information see detox on this link: http://www.hollysdream.com/health/RWP_Full.php

Bone and Joint Health

8/16/2012

I did some searching for articles I've collected about bones/joints, so tried to combine them all here. Most are 3rd. party information.  Happy researching!
Diana

The following are key points  to consider about Bone health.

Here's the key . The bones are made up of dozens of minerals and the article's main concern was focusing on calcium only. Life Force's OsteoProCare doesn't do that. There are several other minerals including 46 trace minerals present in their formula. Not to mention the array of Minerals you get with the Body Balance, so this concern doesn't apply to those of us using the Body Balance and OsteoCare products from Life Force. In fact you cannot utilize calcium without the trace minerals - a problem for most of the population because they do not get trace minerals in any of the foods they typically eat. I liked the emphasis in the article on the other things we need for strong bones such as:
  1. Salt - especailly a good sea salt with the minerals because salt AND water are vital for making the sturcture of the bones firm.
  2. Progesterone helps the calcium get into the bones
  3. Vit. D3
  4. Omega 3 - enhances bone mineral content. In fact without good fats, we cannot utilize our minerals in our foods.
  5. K2 as long as is eaten with a fat
  6. Protein which gives our bones strength
  7. Proper Ph so that the body doesn't rob the minerals especially calcium from our bones to balance the acidic ph.
  8. Exercise - which puts pressure on the bones when we increase muscle strength (weight training) This pressure causes the bones to rebuild.
  9. The worst thing we can do is take something like fosomax which poisons the Bone breakdown cells that we need to rebuild stronger bones. Without this we get thicker bones, but more brittle ones.

Here are some experts taken from a Health Journal by Steven Horne Called "Nature's Field":

Bones are the body's mineral storehouse and minerals are the "dust of the earth" from which our body is made. Bones absorb minerals when they are available in the diet and release them as they are needed by other tissues. * You can't make bone with calcium alone. You need the right forms of calcium (whole plant form or Calcium Orotate if supplementing) fats, proteins and vitamins to assimilate it and the other minerals. In fact, it is these other minerals that give bones their strength, flexibility and durability. * General lack of good nutrition, expecially trace minerals is why peoplle have so many probelms with their bones, not just from a lack of proper calcium. * Tooth decay is one of the primary signs of malnutrition, especially a diet poor in trace minerals and an acidic diet. (if you are interested in Acid/Alkaline eating charts, I can send you one) * Eating a diet that is more alkalyzing and free of excess sugars helps increase bone density, because both will cause minerals to be pulled out of the bones.

Calcium Orotate Video

Here's a video that did a good job explaining the different types of Calcium. This guy is a third party resource, not associated with LifeForce. He is also a naturopath and nutritionist among other things.

http://www.ghchealth.com/natural-health/video-questions-and-answers-blog-page-2/calcium-orotate-and-calcium-citrate/

Remember LF is a calcium orotate, which he is referring to, but LF calcium isn’t only a calcium orotate, but a blend of minerals, glucosamine, Chondroiton, Vit. D3, Trace minerals and l carnatine etc.. There is absolutely nothing that beats LF Calcium in absorbability and content. Another point to remember is that we cannot effectively utilize all our Calcium without the proper Trace Minerals which none of us get in our diets due to soil depletion of minerals in the foods that we eat. Body Balance being made from the Sea Vegetables are full of all the trace and rare trace minerals essential to optimal body functioning. We have another Calcium available if a person needs a vegetarian source since the Glucosamine in this one is derived from shellfish.

The following article is posted on Dr. Toni Tirri's website and is his explanation of why OsteoProCare works so well

OsteoProcare and OsteoOmegacare is a highly advanced form of Calcium Orotate that has been combined with Magnesium.  This combination efficiently delivers the maximum levels of calcium to help promote optimum bone and cellular heatlh.
What is An Orotate?
Orotates are the mineral salts of a natural substance called orotic acid.  It is found in your body and also in dairy products.  It is believed that minerals and vitamins in orotate form act as superior transporters throughout the body.  When a mineral is in an orotate form, it can pass through cell membranes easily without breaking apart so it can get to where it is needed most - joints, tissues, and cartilage.
How about Calcium Orotate?  How does it differ from regular Calcium?
98% of the calcium in your body is found in your bones.  In fact, calcium is the most abundant mineral in your body.  If your bones loose more calcium than they take in, you can loose bone mass and weaken your bone structure.  Calcium orotate (because of its unique molecular structure) possesses the ability to penetrate bones, cartilage, and other tissue more effectively than regular calcium to help promote the re-calcification of your skeleton.  This is a key point.  You take calcium for one reason, receive it where it's needed to support optimal bone health.  Most traditional forms of calcium ( an estimated 70 to 80% ) are flushed out of your system before they can be absorbed!  Calcium Orotate is different because it's highly absorbable!
What Does Magnesium do for the Skeleton?

Many people are experiencing magnesium deficiencies.  Why?   Because of diets high in processed or fast foods!  Magnesium promotes the proper absorption of calcium by your bones. Magnesium is also vitally important for a healhty cardiovascular system, for improved blood pressure, and for promoting a relaxed mood.  Specifically, magnesium acts as a "transporter" to help push   calcium more efficiently through your cells so it can reach areas (bones, brain, cardiovascular system) where it's vitally needed.
About Dr. Hans Nieper
Dr. Hans Nieper's theoretical explanation (of the mechanisms behind his stunning success in the clinical application of sophisticated mineral transporters) rely heavily on the concept of the fixed pore mechanism of active transport.  The theory called "fixed pore mechanism" suggests a carrier molecule, in this case Orotic Acid (B-13), is attached to the compound being transported.  This research has inspired the creation of mineral chelates called orotic acid chelates ( or orotates) which offer a 20-fold increase in mineral utilization.  Nieper promoted orotates for nearly every ailment imaginable and was consequently ignored.  Most of his medical claims were never rigorously tested.  However, in certain applications (such as athletic performance) where his ideas underwent peer-reviewed, scientific scrutiny, they have been found to work!  Nieper was on the right track after all.
Calcium and Magnesium was used by Nieper.  The long-term clinical tolerance and overall value of calcium orotate is far superior to other therapeutic calcium substances and to the so-called immune depressors.  Orotates are mineral salts of orotic acid which is used by plants and animals to make DNA and RNA.  Prior to 1980, Hans Nieper, a physician and experimenter in offbeat theories  of gravitation, used orotates in clinical applications.  He believed orotate salts, being neutrally charged, pass easily through cell membranes.  In effect, orotate ferries the mineral atoms into cells and tissues, thus producing higher concentrations.

OsteoProCare vs Fosamax
Fosamax is America's leading drug for Osteoperosis with sales of over $704 million last year. Is it safe? Common side effects include heartburn, nausea, abdominal pain, and ulcers “in some people”. In fact 12% of the women who take Fosamax require medical treatment for these disturbances, and 14% of those women have to be hospitalized! According to James Balch, M.D.

“What get me hopping made is that all the claims about how it increases bone density are misleading. You see, even though Fosamax makes your bones denser, it actually makes them more brittle! Here's Why:

Your Bones contain special cells called osteoclasts and osteoblasts. The osteoclasts break down old bone, and the osteoblasts build new bone. Fosamax works by poisoning your bone-remodeling osteoclasts that break down old bone. Then since the old bone is never broken down, bones do get thicker – but also weaker and more brittle. But it does nothing to build new bone. So even though your bones become denser, that density is made up of older, weaker bone cells.”

The good news is that you don't have to take Fosamax. That's because there are safe, natural ways to re-build your nones. That's calcium.

When God engineered the human body, He chose calcium to be the #1 mineral in the body and also the hardest one to assimilate. Remember this: all calcium is not the same. Some is ground up rocks and your body is not able to metabolize it and when any is not absorbed into the body, it must either be excreted or stored. When it is excreted, it is done so through the kidneys which uses calcium in the process. Because of this, you may be actually losing more calcium than if you weren't taking the supplement. If you store it, it can become a stone and manifest in any one of several places that people have stones – kidney, gall bladder, or even joint tissues.

Calcium is sometimes detrimental (made from limestone or coral – it is white chalk). Calcium Orotate is absorbable (Made from oyster shell). Only Calcium Orotate penetrates directly through the membrane, delivering calcium to the interior of the cell where it is utilized. Calcium Orotate is made by chelating Calcium Carbonate with Vitamin B13 (also called Orotic Acid). One of the functions of Orotic Acid is to metabolize folic acid and and Vitamin B12, which helps to prevent premature aging and weight loss. Calcium works by encouraging the fat cells to burn extra fat. When your calcium levels are low, there is a gene in your body that gets turned on, causing your body to store more fat, but when your calcium levels are high, the gene is turned off. (Dr. Michael Zemel of the University of Tennessee) All calcium is not the same and just because you are taking calcium doesn't mean that it's getting to the cellular level.

This article is concerning the joint product we have called FlexeoPlus

FlexeoPlus
Summary done by a nurse
  1. Supports healthy joints & bones - Glucosamine lubricates joints and helps regenerate cartilage, ligaments and tendons.

  2. MSM – naturally occuring organic surfur which repairs and forms connective tissues, builds proteins and strengthens cell membranes & the connective tissues that hold them together. – inhibits pain impulses along nerve fibers - reduces inflammation and muscle spasm – It also makes the cells more permeable so that the blood and nutrients can penetrate hardened tissue or cartilage growth areas where blood vessels surround and penetrate from without. Lack of MSM can inhibit tissue regrowth and strength.

  3. Our bodies do not make it and it come from certain foods (if you are eating right), but even if we are eating right sulfur has also declined with poor farming practices. Also as we grow older we make less of it in our own bodies.

  4. - improves wound healing – Can break up scar tissue and reduce calcium deposits.

  5. MSM is essential for optimal liver functioning.

  6. Ipriflavone – activate bone building cells promoting bone density – inhibits bone breakdown

  7. Co-factors: Zinc, Vit C , K1 – increases the effectiveness of other ingredients. Vit K (gets your calcium from your blood to your bones & prevents calcium from sticking to the arteries) and is found in Body Balance & FlexeoPlus, but also in leafy greens. In the winter time, it is best to slightly steam them and salt them.

  8. Can take daily 4 droppers 3 X day in any liquid or topically to knees or shoulders

FlexeoPlus  Article from Life Force Magazine

FlexeoPlus is a liquid health supplement that supports healthy bones and joints. The three power components of FlexeoPlus -- MSM, glucosamine and ipriflavone – work together to support an active lifestyle by reducing calcium loss from bones, strengthening and lubricating joints, promoting cartilage and connective tissue repair , and promoting joint flexibility. Every bodily movement would be much more difficult without the shock-absorption of cartilage. Join us as we uncover some of the magic of these ingredients.

Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) is commonly used to support joint function, which can be diminished by uncharacteristic wearing of the cartilage that covers and cushions joints or by diminished synovial fluid, which lubricates joints. We can easily see a connection between supplementing with MSM and lubricating our car doors with WD-40.

A double-blind, placebo-controlled study suggested that 1,500 mg. Per day of MSM was helpful in supporting knee function. Participants who took MSM had improved physical functioning; without major adverse events (Usha and Naidu 2004). MSM has been shown to support an active lifestyle by helping to protect the cartilage, allowing individuals to continue executing weight-bearing activities, including walking and standing.

Glucosamine is a naturally occurring nutrient often derived from shellfish, containing glucose (a sugar) and an “amine” (Glutamine; an amino acid). It is not present in significant amounts in most diets, justifying the importance of supplementation. Glucosamine is a significant component of cartilage, acting as an important building block required by the body to create molecules called glycosaminoglycans.

Glucosamine is quickly becoming one of the most popular supplements today due to is ability to lubricate joints and help regenerate cartilage, ligaments and tendons. Researchers believe that glucosamine beneficially affects the imbalance between rates of synthesis and degradation of the cartilage proteooglycans, pushing the balance more toward synthesis Supporting connective tissue serves to maintain healthy and flexible joints by providing proper cushioning and defense against strains caused by physical training, frequent exercising and the natural effects of aging. Recommendations of 500 mg, three times per day, have consistently delivered the best results.

Ipriflavone is considered the bone builder of FlexeoPlus' ingredients—it actually retards osteoclasts (bone-eroding cells), allowing for osteoblasts (bone-building cells) to operate more efficiently. It has also shown to increase bone calcium retention, and has even demonstrated the ability to maintain bone density at the spine. While Ipriflavone does occur naturally in food, it is only in trace amounts, again calling out the importance of supplementation.

Between 1989 and 2000, at least 31 human clinical studies on ipriflavone were reported. These studies involved a total of 4,298 patients, and 1,495 of these patients were treated with ipriflavone. Eighteen of these studies focused on bone mineral density and were controlled by placebos. Of these 18, approximately ½ showed ipriflavone to either augment bone density or at least reduce bone loss significantly more than calcium alone (osteoporosis Education Project Analysis). Research supports that segmented does from between 250 and 1,250 mg. of ipriflavone per day promote optimal results.

The synergistic effect of glucosamine, ipriflavone and MSM is further supported by the inclusion of zinc, vitamin C and Vitamin K in FlexeoPlus. In addition, oils rich in essential fatty acids have also been linked to proper joint health.

As usual, we recommend a well-rounded approach to health. Pair FlexeoPlus with these great tips. Health/Fitness specialists advise frequent strength-training sessions, 3 to 4 times per week, which help to promote bone growth. Weight-bearing exercises apply tension to bones through muscle movement, stimulating bone regeneration. Inactivity is often linked with poor bone health, so even getting up out of your seat using only your legs, without the assistance of your arms, can help make a positive difference (refer to Life Line V.3, 2008, “Let's Get Physical” for additional exercise). Take this approach a few giant steps further by eliminating negative lifestyle habits. Smoking is extremely harmful in many ways, but in term of bone-density detriment, it depletes the body of vitamin C and decreases blood levels of estrogen. Alcohol impedes the absorption and increases the excretion of calcium, magnesium, Vitamin C, zinc and copper and inhibits the proper functioning of Vitamin B6.

FlexeoPlus is designed to be taken every day. It is important to note that any positive effects of the components in FlexeoPlus have been shown to only last roughly as long as they are taken. Over time, everyday wear and tear, nutrient deficient diets, sports activity, and aging can result in weakened and injured cartilage, ligament and tendons. We see that continued supplementation to maintain healthy joins is an important part of staying active and being able to walk, jog, jump and sprint down our paths of wellness.

18--Avoided Knee Replacement and Chronic Pain
For me, evaluating nutritional supplementation has been easy. Why? Because my body is extremely sensitive to everything. Like anyone else who has severe chronic pain, when you find something that works, you know it. I have lived with severe knee pain 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for 32 years.

In May of 1966, I completed my active military duty and was reassigned to reserve status with my Squadron, at Alameda Naval Air Base, in California. I was excited about the transfer because I was picked to start training for my wings as an Air Crewman. Immediately, after completing my first phase of training, I was injured in a civilian job. A four-ton hoist smashed me vertically into a steel bin, ending my military duty and an eleven year career as an athlete.

As a result of this injury, I was unable to walk without a cane or crutches for 6½ years. It took four major surgeries and significant amounts of prescription drugs for 1½ years to deal with the pain and swelling. The final solution, the medical profession had to offer for my knee instability, was total knee fusion.

At this time I was a pre-medicine student on a university transfer program to Stanford University. I wanted to be a plastic surgeon. Upon the final recommendation of knee fusion, I quit pre-medicine and no longer wanted to be an MD. I became disgusted with the idea of another surgery, more drugs and a stiff leg the rest of my life. I started to look for alternative ways to heal myself.

Fifteen years ago, orthopedic surgeons wanted to perform a total knee replacement. However, through decompression hydrotherapy rehabilitation exercise, in a swimming pool, 1 was able to maintain stability.

As I got older, with no cartilage and bone rubbing on bone, my knee has become more degenerative from friction. As time went by, it became more difficult to walk and I lost the ability to bend my knee. As this degenerative process continued, the pain level increased to the point that it was almost impossible to find a comfortable position. After a consultation in May, 1997, with Dr. Robert Klapper, Orthopedic Surgeon at Cedar Sinai, I observed 2 total knee replacements he performed and decided to have my knee replaced the day after Thanksgiving.

However, in September, an actor was injured on a Disney movie, in British Columbia, and I was brought in to help get him through the movie. What was supposed to be a three day stay, ended up to be 2½ months. The terrain was irregular, wet and cold, causing me a daily increase in pain. Many nights I could hardly walk. The only way I could sleep was to pack my knee in ice.

When I returned from Canada, I found out about OsteoProCare. I had been looking for a highly absorbable form of calcium. I was taking a chewable calcium and a Chondroitin Glucosamine supplement already, but it often created a bloating feeling and I felt I was not absorbing it.

After taking OsteoProCare for a few days, I started to feel much better. After a few weeks, I had less knee pain and better range of motion. OsteoProCare definitely made a significant difference for me. I could finally sleep without the nightly throbbing and pounding in my knee. The most interesting response was from my patients, many of whom knew of my problem because I walked with a severe limp. However, they began to notice that I was no longer walking with a limp. They wanted to know what I was doing to help myself. The answer, OsteoProCare. I take two tablespoons twice a day and find my body responds incredibly well. I have started to workout again and feel significantly better. I no longer plan to have knee surgery.

1 wish I had been able to use a product like OsteoProCare with Glucosamine Hydrochloride and Chondroitin Sulfate back in the 80’s. OsteoProCare with Glucosamine Hydrochloride and Chondroitin Sulfate can significantly decrease the recovery time of someone who is suffering from a knee injury, or any condition that results in deteriorated connective tissue or degenerative arthritis.

I've had extremely good results recommending OsteoProCare to my patients, particularly those with degenerative joint disease. Many of my arthritic patients believe it has turned back the time clock and they feel more mobile and younger.
